The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine plans to introduce new requirements for students who receive state-funded education. In particular, this will concern mandatory work experience after graduation. The agency emphasizes that the state not only invests in the training of specialists but also expects a return on this investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi noted that the innovation would require some graduates who studied at state expense to work in their specialty for a specific period within the framework of the guaranteed first job program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This innovation will not apply to all specialties but only to those designated by the state as a priority. This will most affect doctors, teachers, and specialists in the field of energy or critical infrastructure. The final list of professions is still being formed and will be approved shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding other specialties, the issue of mandatory work experience remains open and will depend on the state’s employment policies and labor market demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study program will determine the duration of the mandatory work. For bachelor’s degree holders who studied for 4 years, two years of work experience will be provided, and for medical specialists who studied for longer, three years of work experience will be provided. It is essential that this approach not be a “distribution” in the style of Soviet times but rather be carried out through a competitive procedure, where students will be able to choose from guaranteed vacancies in their field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative arose in response to the need for a more rational use of budget funds. The Ministry notes that many students who receive free education do not realize themselves in their specialty after graduation or leave the country. The introduction of mandatory work should help change this situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also planned to establish a transparent mechanism for supporting graduates from the moment of completing their studies to obtaining their first job, which should ensure the retention of personnel in areas critical to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Minister emphasized that these changes will not take effect for applicants in 2025; instead, a transition period will be implemented for educational institutions, employers, and students themselves to adapt to the innovations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
