Lawyers emphasize that such situations have become commonplace, and many drivers, unaware of their rights, pay the fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regulatory framework<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In March 2022, the government adopted Resolution No. 184, which allows the use of expired driver’s licenses until the end of martial law. This decision was made due to the difficult access to service centers during the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, on the ground, the police often neglect this decision. According to experts, inspectors are aware of this resolution but continue to fine drivers, hoping for their ignorance or refusal to appeal the fines, stating that citizens had time to renew their documents in three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Consequences of paying fines<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lawyers warn that if a driver pays a fine, it is considered an admission of guilt. For a repeated offense, the amount of the fine can increase to 20,400 hryvnias. Drivers with expired licenses are advised to bring the issue to the attention of the police regarding Resolution No. 184.
