In Ukraine, individuals who are not subject to mobilization have been allowed to join volunteer units to counter drones. However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has decided to mobilize these groups. Military analyst Yuriy Kasyanov reported this in his article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government recently adopted a new approach that allows the creation of mobile fire units based on volunteer formations of territorial communities (DFTG) to combat enemy drones, such as Shahid. Members of these units, after completing training and certification, are authorized to use machine guns, drones, and light aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the analyst, at the same time, the General Staff has begun active mobilization of DFTG members who can serve due to health reasons and do not have a deferral. This deprives volunteer units of the opportunity to perform their primary tasks in the rear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kasyanov believes that this situation highlights the inconsistency of government decisions during wartime and the absence of a systematic approach to national security. “On the one hand, the General Staff is responding to an acute shortage of fighters at the front. On the other hand, the government is responding to a growing threat from the air, especially in conditions of limited air defense capabilities and an insufficient number of anti-drone teams,” the expert notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The analyst notes that although each of these decisions may be justified individually, in practice, they are mutually contradictory. As a result, the country may fail in both carrying out a full-fledged mobilization and protecting itself from air attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kasyanov also notes that this is not the only instance of a lack of coordination among the authorities’ actions. He emphasizes that territorial defense was established to protect the rear and infrastructure, as well as to support civil defense. However, most of the territorial defense forces are now involved in the front line, while the provision of rear functions has been passed to the army and the National Guard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
