The Avtomagistral-Pivden company has come under the spotlight of law enforcement agencies due to an investigation into suspected embezzlement of over 240 million hryvnias. The owner of the company, Oleksandr Boyko, is currently the main defendant in a case related to the construction of a crucial water pipeline necessary to supply Kryvyi Rih with water following the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by the Russian military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Police reported that the company received about 7.4 billion hryvnias from budget funds under several agreements. However, according to investigators, a group of individuals organized a scheme that resulted in the illegal appropriation of territorial resources rather than carrying out the planned work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The embezzlement of over 240 million hryvnias has now been confirmed, but the investigation may reveal losses that will reach several billion hryvnias. Suspicions have been reported to five participants in this corruption scheme, who face up to 12 years in prison, along with the confiscation of their property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Strategic Investigations emphasizes that the company’s managers and officials are involved in illegal activities. All of them have established a mechanism for withdrawing money through fictitious expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko is personally supervising this case. He reviewed the investigation materials and confirmed the legitimacy of the existing suspicions. Kravchenko emphasized that all conclusions are based on the results of examinations and do not raise doubts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company’s Deputy General Director, Valery Vakarchuk, confirmed that Avtomagistral-Pivden has not yet received compensation for the work performed, and the state’s debt exceeds 7 billion hryvnias. According to him, the company is forced to bear the costs of maintaining the water pipeline without any compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commenting on the situation, Vakarchuk emphasized that many expenses were incurred by the company during the project’s implementation, and it did not even receive state funds for the purchase of pipes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This story is not unique to Avtomagistral-Pivden. The company had previously received a construction contract worth 25 million hryvnias despite a criminal case involving the embezzlement of budget funds. Part of the money has already been spent on dismantling work, which another company carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
