In the evening of July 10, residents of Ukraine will be able to witness an unusual astronomical phenomenon – the July full moon, which will impress with its size. The full moon will rise at 9:30 p.m., and it will be exceptionally bright, as it is at its closest approach to Earth at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year’s full moon, known as the Deer Moon, coincides with the moment when the satellite is in the constellation of Sagittarius. Due to this fact, the moon will appear more visible in the sky, offering impressive observations, especially outside urban areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to the summer solstice, the moon will rise very low on the horizon, creating the illusion that it appears larger than its usual size. This optical effect, also known as the moon illusion, is described by astronomers and scientific institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The month will be best visible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In places with open views of the east, without high-rise buildings and vegetation;
Outside cities, less artificial lighting will provide better visibility;
In clear and dry weather, the presence of clouds or fog can interfere with observation.
The name “deer moon” originates from the traditions of Native Americans, specifically the period of horn growth in young male deer. In other regions, this phase of the moon is also known as the “thunder” phase, “hay” phase, or “berry” phase, depending on local customs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
July is one of the lowest full months of the year, and only June was lower. The most striking visibility is observed at the beginning when the moon appears above the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
