Natalia Soroka, a Ukrainian language teacher and tutor, shared on her Instagram page the complex tasks of this year’s test and gave recommendations for correct accentuation. We are talking about common words that, as it turned out, many people pronounce with the wrong accent. Here are some of them with highlighted accents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Price, like, pizza, professional, bowl, drill, expenses, trident, teenage, image<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such tasks caused dissatisfaction among students and led to numerous mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the comments to the publication, users expressed their indignation at such requirements. They noted that language should reflect the realities of life and not be separated from everyday communication. Many asked why it is necessary to teach accents that are not used in ordinary conversational practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The accent should be placed in places where no one pronounces this word in real life,” some commentators noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This looks like the 10 most absurd accents.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“How are children supposed to remember all these surprises when in real life everything is different?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Have we got a new version of the Ukrainian language?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I passed the ZNO with a score of 198, but I would hardly have been able to pass the NMT with a score of 100. Where did this “pialA” come from? Nobody pronounces it like that!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
