The Security Service of Ukraine has detained the former head of the Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the Kyiv City State Administration. He is accused of embezzling approximately 75 million hryvnias intended to support seriously ill Kyiv residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These funds were intended to provide palliative care, including medicines, food, and other essential services for individuals with serious illnesses. However, as the investigation showed, a significant part of this money was spent on the purchase of luxury real estate and luxury cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is known that the criminal activity continued for several years. The former official headed the relevant department from 2022 to 2025, coordinating the actions of other participants in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under his leadership, contracts were concluded with companies that were supposed to assist seriously ill people free of charge. But in reality, these firms were engaged in “laundering” money, forming fictitious acts and including false data in reporting, and later converted the funds into cash. The money collected in this way was returned to the organizers of the criminal scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, the SBU exposed two deputy heads of the department, as well as the head of the capital’s psychiatric hospital and another accomplice. At present, sufficient evidence has been collected against the central figure and three businesspeople who carried out his instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, there is another organizer in the case, the head of the country, who is currently hiding abroad. He is also suspected of aiding and abetting this large-scale embezzlement of funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All participants in the criminal scheme have been notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement and embezzlement of property in vast amounts by an organized group under martial law). This article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SBU officers carried out special measures within the framework of the investigation in Kyiv and the region, and the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office carries out the procedural management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the moment, investigative actions are ongoing, and the court is considering the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the detainees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, NABU and SAPO opened a case on suspicion of the head of the sector of the Department for the Protection of National Statehood of the SBU and two other individuals for extorting a considerable amount of money as a bribe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
