Today, in the Chernihiv region, a farewell was held for Leonid Yakovyshyn, a prominent agrarian who left behind not only a developed economy but also a significant mark on the history of the Ukrainian village. The farewell ceremony for the Hero of Ukraine, the director of LLC “Land and Freedom”, was held in the town of Myrne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Bobrovytsia, where Yakovyshyn lived, a three-day mourning period was declared. Black ribbons were attached to various buildings, entertainment events were restricted, and music was banned in the markets. This decision was made by the local authorities immediately after the news of his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Halyna Kapustynska, a journalist for StopKor, Yakovyshyn’s body was taken to a Mercedes hearse. The farewell was held on the central street, where people lined up to pay their respects to the agrarian. About five hundred representatives of the Chernihiv region’s community attended the last event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The farewell to Leonid Yakovyshyn took place in the local cultural center, although the security asked journalists not to enter the territory. This was a personal wish of the deceased’s family. The public was allowed into the square near the house, but only the closest relatives and friends were in the building itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the coffin was brought into the building, only Yakovyshyn’s acquaintances and employees were able to enter the place to lay flowers. After that, the coffin was returned to the courtyard, where his friend, a representative of the regional council and the closest relatives, spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the ceremony, the security asked the media to stop filming, and after 15 minutes, the hearse left the village, accompanied by a funeral procession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leonid Yakovyshyn founded one of the largest agricultural enterprises in the region – Zemlya i Volya LLC, which cultivates more than 32.5 thousand hectares of land. He was considered an “empire builder”, and the enterprise a “fortress”, which withstood numerous attempts to weaken it by competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was also a people’s deputy of the first convocation and an advisor to several prime ministers, and his influence on agrarian policy was recognized even by his opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leonid Yakovyshin was buried in a mausoleum that he built according to his design. It took more than 10 years and about 3 million dollars to build. The agrarian was inspired by Napoleon’s mausoleum, but implemented a more luxurious version of his ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interior of the tomb features identical copies of stained glass windows from a 600-year-old temple in Germany, four gilded sculptures of Yakovyshin at different age stages, and in the center is a granite sarcophagus weighing 23 tons, worth about $150,000. During his lifetime, the mausoleum was only open with security, but now this place has been opened to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The death of Leonid Yakovyshyn was not only a painful loss for his family but also a critical moment for the agricultural sector of the Chernihiv region. Experts are already predicting a struggle for the legacy of “Zemlya i Volya”, since the company is of strategic importance for the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
