Director of the Kostopil Forestry Enterprise, Oleksandr Meleshchuk, was suspected of illicit enrichment. As indicated by the State Bureau of Investigation, the official failed to provide adequate explanations regarding his assets, the value of which exceeds 44.3 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During searches in his home, law enforcement officers found a large amount of cash: 650,200 US dollars, 481,625 euros, and 500 thousand hryvnias. Meleshchuk also has a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS 400 D, which, according to him, was a gift from his mother, who is retired. The cost of this car, according to the declaration, is 4,728,641 hryvnias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To substantiate the origin of the illegal funds, Meleshchuk provided documents confirming the receipt of money for safekeeping from a person who, as the investigation found out, has not resided in Ukraine since 2022, has no official income, and has no connection with the suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meleshchuk’s declaration records a significant amount of real estate, including an apartment, a residential building, and several land plots in Rivne and the surrounding area. Strangely, one of the apartments is listed as being located in the “Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” although, judging by the documents, it is located in Rivne. This may indicate the use of false data or an attempt to hide the actual location of the object.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All real estate is registered in the name of Meleshchuk himself or his wife, Inna. The documents also state that the rights to use it belong to his daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Interestingly, Meleshchuk is a relative of Vitaliy Sukhovich, the former deputy head of the Polesie Forestry Office of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, who in November 2023 was investigated in a case of illegal enrichment. At that time, more than $ 4 million in luxury cars and various jewelry were seized from him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sukhovich’s case was transferred to the High Anti-Corruption Court, which imposed an obligation on him to transfer 104 million hryvnias to the state budget. Now the situation looks similar for his relative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation into Meleshchuk’s case continues. Currently, it is unclear whether he can explain the origin of his luxury property and substantial wealth.
