The Ministry of Finance website states that PrivatBank clients who have fallen victim to fraud can use the chargeback mechanism, which allows them to get their money back without having to contact law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An increasing number of consumers are noticing that fraudsters have been able to withdraw money from their accounts without any confirmation of transactions. At a time when clients are trying to spend large amounts or withdraw cash, the bank requires verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One user described how, despite long-term service at PrivatBank, 100 euros were withdrawn from his account without explanation. Investigating the situation, he learned that the transaction was performed on the website where he had previously entered his payment details. After contacting the cyber police, he received no results, and new SMS messages about attempts to withdraw funds continued to arrive, despite the account having no money left. The bank only advised him to block the card, without offering alternative solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don’t understand why the bank doesn’t take measures to confirm such transactions and doesn’t protect my funds,” the client expressed his incomprehension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of Finance website also explained that in cases of fraudulent debiting of funds via the Internet, clients can initiate a refund or dispute a dubious transaction. This is possible if the seller turned out to be a fraudster or did not fulfill the terms of the agreement during an online purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To use the chargeback mechanism, you need to submit a request to the card issuing bank within 120 days from the moment of the transaction. The bank will conduct an investigation, and if violations occurred, the funds can be returned, or the seller must provide justification for their actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Law enforcement agencies are not involved in the refund process – this is the responsibility of banks and payment systems. After detecting suspicious activity, the client should as soon as possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The bank is obliged to assist, but the client must also be careful. If the card falls into the hands of fraudsters, it must be blocked urgently, because attempts to steal it may continue,” the Ministry of Finance noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
