Ukraine is undergoing general mobilization and martial law. In some cases, students can receive a deferment from service. Legal experts have clarified whether a student can lose the right to a deferment if they get a job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As noted by human rights activist Maksym Gornostay, official employment for a student is not a basis for canceling a deferment from mobilization. The most essential condition for its preservation is a comprehensive study and adherence to the educational process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“A student is obliged to regularly attend lectures and seminars, as well as fulfill the requirements for passing tests and exams within the specified deadlines. The expert emphasized that conscripts may be subject to attendance checks,” the lawyer added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also warned that if it is discovered that a student often misses classes and does not study, this may lead to his expulsion. In such a case, information will be sent to the territorial recruitment centers, which will provide grounds for revoking the deferment and further mobilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ukrainian government recently revised the rules for granting deferments to students and teachers to eliminate the possibility of evading service due to studies. Now the right to deferment is preserved only under certain conditions – the form of study, age, and the presence of a scientific degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, it is worth noting that students retain the right to deferment during vacations. The exceptions are the periods after completing a bachelor’s degree before starting a master’s degree, and between the end of a master’s degree and the start of the postgraduate admission campaign, when deferment is not valid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
