The operation covered almost the entire front line, but ended without significant changes \u2014 the front line remains in mostly the same state since the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the fall of 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to the publication, in 2025, Russian troops were able to capture only about 0.4% of Ukrainian territory, while suffering huge losses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Economist estimates that from the beginning of the conflict <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">until January of this year<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Russia&#8217;s losses amounted to 640,000 to 877,000 soldiers, including 137,000 to 228,000 dead. As of October 13, 2025, these indicators have increased by almost 60%, to 984 thousand &#8211; 1.44 million people, of which 190-480 thousand died.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">At the same time, according to the publication, 8,668 Ukrainian soldiers died this year, but this is only a minimum estimate. The Economist estimates the ratio of losses between the warring parties at approximately 1 to 5 in Ukraine&#8217;s favor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Analysts emphasize that the losses of Russian forces in the summer were much higher than those of the Ukrainians, and such a rate of losses could lead to serious consequences for Moscow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;If there are no drastic changes, Vladimir Putin will not be able to win the war on the battlefield.
