This means that Ukrainian refugees will be able to continue receiving social benefits from the German government for at least another year and a half, unless new changes are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This decision is in line with European policy and automatically extends the validity of the temporary residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis), so no new applications need to be submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who exactly has protection been extended to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ukrainian citizens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their family members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stateless persons who received international or national protection in Ukraine until February 24, 2022.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citizens of other countries who were legally residing in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, with a permanent residence permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rights that Ukrainians retain in Germany:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Legal residence after receiving the Aufenthaltserlaubnis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to the labor market without the need for additional permits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monthly cash payments from 357 to 563 euros, depending on age and family status.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health insurance, covering treatment, hospitalization, and the purchase of medicines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possibility of placing children in school, participation in advanced training courses, and recognition of Ukrainian diplomas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in integration courses to learn the German language and get acquainted with the culture and legal system of Germany.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, Ukrainians have the right to visit their homeland without losing their temporary protection status and social benefits. However, such trips must be coordinated with local social services. In the event of moving to another federal state, the authorities must also be notified to avoid a possible suspension of social benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to German law, after five years of residence with temporary protection, Ukrainians can apply for a permanent residence permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis), provided they can demonstrate knowledge of German at level B1 or higher, financial independence, and successful integration into German society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ukrainian citizens and their relatives have received an official extension of their temporary protection status in Germany until March 4, 2027.
