The scandal with the declaration: how the family of the deputy from the “Servant of the People” party from Kherson lives at the highest level with modest incomes, “Schemes” reports.<\/p>\n
Yuriy Sobolevsky, the first deputy chairman of the Kherson regional council from the “Servant of the People” party, has been working in the presidential team since 2019. According to official data, his monthly salary is about 60 thousand hryvnias. However, his daughter’s posts on social networks paint a very different picture of their lifestyle. A student at Kyiv University and an assistant to the deputy regularly posts photos against the backdrop of luxurious interiors and designer goods, often accompanied by trips abroad. Usually, Sobolevsky’s mother, his wife, appears next to her, driving an elite car that is not listed in her husband’s declaration.<\/p>\n
The family travels actively, visiting countries such as France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and the UAE. At the same time, his wife and daughter have no official sources of income.<\/p>\n
Journalists noted that over the year, Sobolevsky declared an increase in his savings of more than 3.5 million hryvnias, without providing any explanation for the origin of these funds. Most of the declared assets are indicated as cash in foreign currency.<\/p>\n
After the investigation was published, the official responded to criticism on Facebook, assuring that the source of his funds was related to his previous legal activities:<\/p>\n
“I have already explained to journalists that I worked as a lawyer, and these amounts are quite real for a specialist from Kyiv. As for the discrepancy in the wife’s declaration, she used my words. I did not consider it necessary to indicate my savings, since at that time I had legal obligations.”<\/p>\n
But, as it turned out, in 2018, before the beginning of his public career, Yuriy’s wife, Olena, held the position of a civil servant. Under anti-corruption legislation, she had to declare not only her own assets but also those of her family. The declaration for 2018 indicated only 230 thousand hryvnias in total savings \u2014 an amount that does not correspond to the standard of living their family demonstrates online.<\/p>\n
