The indexation process involves increasing the base pension by a percentage equal to half the inflation rate over the past year and the average wage growth over the past three years.<\/p>\n
The average wage growth over the past three years is estimated at around 20%, which could lead to pension indexation of 14.6%. Analysts had previously forecast a 15.4% increase, based on more optimistic price and wage growth scenarios. However, the exact figures will only be known in February 2026, when official statistics are published.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that it is not reasonable to expect all pensioners to be credited with a minimum of 14.6%. Among the factors that may affect the final amount of payments are:<\/p>\n
Indexation applies only to the basic pension amount. For example, if a pensioner is 65 years old and has full service, his pension must be at least 40% of the minimum wage – this is UAH 3,458.8. If the actual pension is UAH 3,250, the 14.6% indexation is applied only to this amount, resulting in a payment of UAH 3,724.5, not the guaranteed minimum.<\/p>\n
It is also worth noting that indexation is not carried out in the first years after the pension is assigned. Despite the Supreme Court recognizing this practice as illegal, it persists, so newly assigned pensions are not adjusted at the initial stage, even after accounting for inflation indicators.<\/p>\n
