In his opinion, local electricity generation sources provide only 20% of the capital’s needs. In addition, damage to power substations that receive electricity from nuclear power plants further complicates the situation.<\/p>\n
Fears have been repeatedly expressed that Kyiv is on the verge of power outages. Experts believe that if the temperature drops to -5\u2026-10 degrees Celsius, the situation may worsen. The city faces a reduction in electricity supply to 20-22 hours a day for several weeks if a solution is not found on the energy front.<\/p>\n
Energy experts note that the substation supplying Kyiv currently has minimal capacity. The capital’s own electricity production accounts for only 20-25% of total consumption, leaving a deficit of about 70%.<\/p>\n
This state of affairs increases the risk of instability in energy supply, especially during the cold season.
