From January 1, 2026, changes will be made in the calculations of the pension fee, which is collected during the initial state registration of passenger cars in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
According to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the innovations are due to an increase in the subsistence minimum. They are intended to be used in forming the amount of the fee for mandatory state pension insurance.<\/p>\n
Currently, for non-disabled persons, the subsistence minimum is 3,328 hryvnias, and this figure determines the amount of the pension fee, which depends on the car’s cost and the number of minimums used to calculate it.<\/p>\n
The pension fee rates in 2026 will be as follows:<\/p>\n
3% – for cars whose cost does not exceed 165 subsistence minimums (up to 549,120 UAH);<\/p>\n
4% – if the cost exceeds 165, but not more than 290 minimums (from 549,120 UAH to 965,120 UAH);
\n5% – for cars whose cost exceeds 290 subsistence minimums (above 965,120 UAH).
\nThe pension fee must be paid regardless of whether the car is new or used, and whether it is registered in Ukraine for the first time. The tax is levied on the car’s cost, as indicated in purchase and sale contracts, customs declarations, expert appraisal reports, or other documents confirming the car’s price.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that passenger cars equipped exclusively with electric engines are exempt from paying the pension fee.<\/p>\n
Specialists at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center recommend that drivers factor in recent changes to the pension fee when planning to purchase a car in 2026 to avoid unexpected expenses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
