The capital repairs to the sleeping buildings of a children’s institution in the Stryi district became the subject of serious misuse of budget funds. It is believed that part of the funding allocated from the Lviv budget was illegally appropriated.<\/p>\n
In February 2025, a budget was allocated for the major renovation of the dormitory buildings at the children’s institution, designed to accommodate children from vulnerable social groups, internally displaced persons, and gifted youth. However, the investigation revealed that significant abuses occurred during the implementation of this project.<\/p>\n
The law enforcement officers established that the criminal group included the former head of the district department of education, the ex-director of the camp, the head of a contracting organization, and the economist of the department of education and culture of the Lviv City Council. According to the information, the roles among the participants were clearly defined: the organizers coordinated the actions. At the same time, the executors were responsible for the fictitious performance of the works, the overestimation of the cost of the materials, and the signing of forged acts of the completed works. Another participant helped with financial planning and removing bureaucratic obstacles.<\/p>\n
As a result of such actions, the budget suffered losses of almost 4 million hryvnias. As part of the investigation, all four participants were charged with abuse of office. Some of them are also charged with official forgery.<\/p>\n
Investigative actions continue, and law enforcement officers are trying to identify other possible participants in this criminal scheme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
