Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Odessa region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the case of intentional understatement of tax liabilities. During the investigation, the company voluntarily reimbursed 4.7 million hryvnias to the state.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement officers found that the head of a wholesale electrical goods company deliberately underreported income tax. This happened due to an unjustified overstatement of expenses in the financial statements by 26.1 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n
These actions led to a shortage of 4.7 million hryvnias in the state budget. The materials collected during the investigation became the basis for bringing charges against the company director under Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns tax evasion.<\/p>\n
During the pre-trial investigation, the company fully compensated for the losses, and the amount of 4.7 million hryvnias was transferred to the budget. After that, the criminal proceedings were transferred to the court for further consideration.<\/p>\n
On the legal side, detectives from the Department for Strategic Protection of the Economy of the BEB in the Odessa region provided operational support in this case, and prosecutors from the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office provided procedural guidance.<\/p>\n
