Oleksandr Katsuba, who has repeatedly been of interest in corruption investigations during his time at Naftogaz, became the owner of 50% of the gas production company Nadra-Geoinvest after paying significant dividends. In 2022, the company paid dividends of UAH 1.6 billion to its owners, in three tranches of UAH 120 million, UAH 700 million, and UAH 802 million.<\/p>\n
Before the change in the founders’ composition, all the company’s assets legally belonged to Tatyana Guzenko, Katsuba’s ex-wife, who was formally the sole owner. However, the actual management was handled by Katsuba. After the distribution of dividends, half of the corporate rights were transferred to him: 50% of the shares were transferred from Guzenko to Katsuba, meaning that the main financial revenues were distributed even before his participation in the company was finalized.<\/p>\n
In this chronology, it is interesting that initially, the company, registered in the name of the nominal owner, paid large sums from profits, and only then did the redistribution of property occur. This scheme can reduce the visibility of the ultimate beneficiary, minimize reputational risks, and ensure control over assets after the withdrawal of fixed capital.<\/p>\n
Nadra-Geoinvest is engaged in gas production, a sector strategically important to the country. In the context of war, energy challenges, and constant calls for transparency in the use of natural resources, such actions look contradictory. Large financial flows are concentrated in a limited group of individuals with an ambiguous past.<\/p>\n
The name Oleksandr Katsuba has long been associated with past gas schemes. The registration of his share in Nadra-Geoinvest after a significant dividend distribution is hardly accidental.
