Netflix has begun production on a new spin-off of the \u201cTop Hats\u201d series. According to Games Radar, the project will feature two new seasons, covering a completely new story about the younger generation of the Shelby family.<\/p>\n
Filming began on March 4 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The main action took place at the historic Queens Theatre, with key scenes planned at Birmingham\u2019s Digbeth Loc Studios and Jenkins Street.<\/p>\n
The first photos from the set show the cast dressed in 1950s garb alongside vintage cars. One image shows a man with what appears to be a typewriter case, while another shows a noticeboard from The Birmingham Herald with a headline about a fire that has left three people injured.<\/p>\n
The spin-off, unofficially titled Peaky 1954, is set to run for two seasons and focuses on the Shelby family’s involvement in the post-bombing industrial recovery of Birmingham. The project description describes it as “a brutal game of control over a major redevelopment project in a city full of opportunity and danger.”<\/p>\n
Among the actors who have been spotted on set are Cal O’Driscoll, Fintach Shevlin and Jacob Wright. Some of them are wearing distinctive hats that could indicate they are part of the new Shelby generation. It is not yet known whether characters such as Tommy, played by Cillian Murphy, or his son, who became the protagonist of another spin-off, Peaky Blinders, which is currently in cinemas and will be available for streaming on March 20.<\/p>\n
It is unclear whether the new seasons will be integrated into the main series as seasons 7 and 8 or released separately. It is expected to be released in late 2026 or early 2027.
