In Ukraine, 500 thousand deaths are recorded each year, out of a total of 180-220 thousand children. According to experts, the country is already losing about 300 thousand citizens each year. Vasyl Voskoboynyk, Head of the Migration Policy Office and President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Companies for International Employment, emphasized that in conditions of such a dynamic population decline, it is urgent to find ways to stimulate the birth rate.<\/p>\n
The expert noted that in order to restore a stable population, each woman should give birth to at least two children. Today, the fertility rate in Ukraine is only 0.7 children per woman, while before the war this figure was at the level of 1.4. In order to avoid an unacceptable demographic situation, every ten women should contribute to the appearance of at least twenty-two children.<\/p>\n
The trend towards a decrease in the population has been observed since 2010-2012 and continues even in peacetime. “The population decline of 300,000 people every year is a very serious problem, and without an increase in the birth rate, we will not be able to stop this trend,” Voskoboynyk noted.<\/p>\n
An additional factor complicating the situation is mass labor migration. The country’s recovery after the war may lead to a new wave of outflow of the working-age population, which will further complicate the issue of providing the workforce. “We may find ourselves in a situation where we will be left without people who are able to pay taxes, produce goods and use services, which will deepen the economic crisis,” the expert noted.<\/p>\n
He also emphasized that without systemic support for families and incentives for fertility, the country risks facing not only a demographic but also an economic catastrophe. “A minimum of two children per woman is not just a wish, but an urgent need to preserve the state and the future of the Ukrainian nation,” Voskoboynyk summarized.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
