Ukraine is currently experiencing a price increase for electronic devices and household appliances, and this is just the beginning. Experts previously noted that the main reason was the shortage of chips, but now other factors have also been added: rising logistics costs, rising fuel prices, and geopolitical instability.<\/p>\n
Some categories of goods have already become more expensive, while others are holding their prices stable or even decreasing, according to the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n
What is getting more expensive?<\/p>\n
The market is experiencing a steady price increase, usually within the limits of currency fluctuations. The following have risen the most:<\/p>\n
smartphones, especially flagship models (new versions of Apple and Samsung);
\nlaptops – in the budget segment, prices have increased by 10-15%;
\nboilers and generators – prices are rising despite improved energy supply;
\nair conditioners – demand before the summer season is leading to price increases.
\nThe main reason is that new equipment deliveries already take into account the higher exchange rate and more expensive logistics.<\/p>\n
What is getting cheaper or staying the same?<\/p>\n
Despite the general trends, some categories of goods are reducing prices:<\/p>\n
home appliances (washing machines, vacuum cleaners) – promotional sales;
\nTVs – some models are losing value due to low demand;
\nold batches of goods – are sold at reduced prices due to previously purchased stocks.
\nRetailers are trying to stimulate demand through promotions and discounts.<\/p>\n
Forecast for further price increases<\/p>\n
Experts note that the most significant price increase is yet to come, as the market faces many challenges:<\/p>\n
shortage of chips and components (may last until 2027);
\nrising fuel prices, which account for up to 60% of logistics costs;
\nrising prices for container and road transportation;
\nthe need for new logistics routes due to instability in the Middle East region;
\nexchange rate fluctuations.
\nThe price of the equipment already includes a surcharge for logistics costs, which varies between 3-5%.<\/p>\n
Should we expect sharp price jumps?<\/p>\n
An increase of 20-30% is likely, although it is unlikely to happen immediately. This will depend on demand: if sales start to fall, retailers can reduce prices through promotions.<\/p>\n
There is also a segment of “gray” equipment, which is imported without full taxation and costs less. But its share is gradually decreasing.<\/p>\n
What does this mean for consumers?<\/p>\n
The market is entering a phase of uneven price growth:<\/p>\n
new batches are significantly more expensive;
\nwarehouse residues are still more affordable.<\/p>\n
