On April 15, Christians celebrate Holy Wednesday, the third day of Holy Week, full of important events. On this day, according to the Gospel, the countdown to one of the most tragic stories in Christianity begins.<\/p>\n
On this day, Jesus reveals to his disciples that the betrayal is approaching. Against this background, the high priests and elders make the final decision to kill him, and Judas Iscariot agrees to betray his Teacher for 30 pieces of silver. This moment illustrates how internal conflicts can lead to destruction.<\/p>\n
However, along with the theme of betrayal, there is also the theme of forgiveness. On Holy Wednesday, they remember the woman who, having come to Jesus, cried and washed his feet with tears, anointing them with oil. Many people condemned her, but Christ emphasized that her love and repentance were more important than condemnation. He forgave her sins.<\/p>\n
The Church places Holy Wednesday on the same level as Good Friday, emphasizing the depth of the spiritual meaning of this day. It is a time of silence and internal introspection, with a minimum of external excesses.<\/p>\n
The last liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is held in churches before Easter, and believers often choose this day for confession, symbolizing purification before the holiday.<\/p>\n
From the point of view of everyday life, the day is marked by strict nutrition: dry food without heat treatment and oil. The main diet consists of bread, vegetables, fruits, nuts and honey – simple, but important for maintaining discipline.<\/p>\n
On this day, it is forbidden to quarrel, get angry, insult or be offended. It is also not recommended to engage in needlework, celebrations, parties, birthdays, and weddings are also inappropriate. Visiting the cemetery is also not recommended during Holy Week.<\/p>\n
At the same time, it is useful and even desirable to prepare for Easter: people buy food, plan a festive table and prepare Easter eggs and pysanky. They also put their homes in order on this day – cleanliness outside leads to peace inside.<\/p>\n
