The company “Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine” intends to introduce smart modules for households and budget institutions in Ukraine, in order to modernize the gas metering system. These devices will provide the ability to automatically transmit data on gas consumption, which is confirmed by the message of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the smart modules were manufactured in Ukraine and purchased with funds from the State Fund for Decarbonization and Energy Efficient Transformation. The equipment will be delivered to “Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine” free of charge.<\/p>\n
Modern smart modules, which will be installed on standard gas meters, will significantly increase their functionality. This innovation will simplify the transition to digital gas metering and will provide consumers with the opportunity to remotely transmit indicators using modern technological solutions.<\/p>\n
Head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, Anna Zamazeyeva, emphasized that this initiative will significantly increase transparency and convenience for gas network users, ensuring high data accuracy.<\/p>\n
The implementation of such projects is part of Ukraine’s obligations to the European Union to implement energy efficiency directives. By 2027, the country must demonstrate progress in implementing norms that provide for the introduction of intelligent metering systems for effective management of energy consumption.<\/p>\n
The installation of smart modules will provide a number of advantages:<\/p>\n
automatic transmission of consumption indicators, which includes eliminating the need for manual data entry;
\nthe ability to monitor gas consumption in real time through digital applications;
\nrapid detection of anomalies in consumption and prompt response to possible problems;
\ncharging exclusively based on actual consumption indicators, which reduces the likelihood of errors and increases consumer confidence;
\naccess to consumption history for more effective control of gas costs and budget planning.
\nEquipping meters with smart modules will allow for the transition to the latest solutions without the need to replace already installed equipment.<\/p>\n
The distribution of new devices by regions took into account the most urgent needs. Of the 40 thousand smart modules, the largest part will be transferred to the Kyiv branch of “Gas Distribution Networks”, which will receive 23,965 modules; the Mykolaiv branch – 12,655 modules; the Volyn branch – 3,380 units.<\/p>\n
It was also noted that the Monitoring had previously reported that the wait for disconnections could drag on for a long time, and Ukrainians could face new utility problems.
