The Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv has ruled in a case of a road accident that resulted in serious injuries to the victim. The case involves Yaryna Ar’yeva, the daughter of MP Volodymyr Ar’yeva.<\/p>\n
The court sentenced Yaryna Ar’yeva to five years in prison, but released her from serving the main sentence with a three-year probationary period. In addition, she is prohibited from driving for three years.<\/p>\n
The case materials state that the victim in the road accident suffered serious bodily injuries. Tests showed the presence of cannabinoid metabolites in the biological samples of the accused. However, the court recognized that this evidence was not sufficient to establish that the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident, since the data cannot be considered indisputable.<\/p>\n
The prosecution demanded a harsher sentence for Yaryna Ar’yeva – 6.5 years in prison and a longer driving ban. The prosecutor’s office insisted that she was driving under the influence of drugs.<\/p>\n
After the verdict was announced, the prosecutor’s office announced its intention to appeal the court’s decision in the appellate court.<\/p>\n
