The main cause of this problem is climate change, which greatly affects the key regions where cocoa beans are grown. Ghana and C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, which provide almost 70% of the world’s production, are facing rising temperatures and decreasing rainfall. Scientists warn that about half of the land suitable for growing cocoa could disappear by the middle of the century, creating serious risks for the entire industry.<\/p>\n
The price of cocoa is already on the rise: the cost of beans has increased by more than 400%, forcing manufacturers to reduce the size of chocolate bars in order to maintain the availability of the product for consumers. The shortage of raw materials not only increases the costs of sweets, but can also affect their quality and availability of assortment.<\/p>\n
Experts indicate that climate change can create serious problems for farmers in sub-tropical countries: drought, irregular rainfall and increased temperatures negatively affect yields, which leads to a decrease in exports to the world market. As a result, chocolate can become not only more expensive, but also a scarce commodity for millions of people around the world.<\/p>\n
