President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid an official visit to the Netherlands on April 16, where he was awarded the international Four Freedoms Award. This award was presented for his contribution to the protection of freedom and democratic values.<\/p>\n
During the award ceremony, the president emphasized that true freedom is impossible without reliable security. He also emphasized the importance of punishing the aggressor.<\/p>\n
Zelenskyy spoke about the night terror by Russia, noting that in one night about 300 attack drones, 19 ballistic missiles and cruise missiles were launched into Ukrainian territory. Air raid sirens sounded in many cities, dozens of people were injured as a result of the attack, and unfortunately, there were deaths in Odessa, Kyiv and Dnipro.<\/p>\n
After that, the participants of the event honored the memory of the deceased with a minute of silence. The President pointed out that Russia’s war is based on the denial of Ukraine’s existence, and recalled that part of the world initially hesitated with its support, while some countries quickly sided with Ukraine.<\/p>\n
“Freedom is not an abstract concept. It is a state that a person fights for and must be protected. It requires a solid foundation, such as security, law, culture and education, as well as the awareness that evil will be punished,” Zelensky noted.<\/p>\n
The President also added that wars reappear when aggressors are not afraid of responsibility. He emphasized the efforts of Ukraine and its partners for justice, so that every victim receives due attention and the guilty are punished.<\/p>\n
“This is necessary, as after World War II. That is why in Europe, including in the Netherlands, we are working to launch a tribunal to punish Russia for aggression against Ukraine,” he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
