After annual indexation, the average pension in Ukraine rose to 7,236 hryvnias, which is 14% more than last year. Despite this, about a quarter of Ukrainian pensioners receive only about 3.5 thousand hryvnias per month.<\/p>\n
According to data from Opendatabot, the share of pensioners with the lowest payments for the year decreased from 36% to 28%.<\/p>\n
The largest category of pensioners consists of people who receive from 5 to 10 thousand hryvnias. There are currently 3.66 million of them, which is 36% of all pensioners. The average pension in this group is 6,686 hryvnias, the growth of the share of this category increased from 29% to 36%.<\/p>\n
The number of pensioners whose pension exceeds 10 thousand hryvnias has also increased. There are now almost 1.86 million of them, which is 19%, while a year ago they were only 15%. The average pension in this group is 16.5 thousand hryvnias.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the number of pensioners with payments in the range of 4 to 5 thousand hryvnias is decreasing. At the moment, this segment has 1.74 million people (17% of the total), which is less than last year’s figure of 20%. The average pension for this category is about 4.5 thousand hryvnias.<\/p>\n
The highest average pensions are recorded in Kyiv, where they reach approximately 9,864 hryvnias. The lowest payments are recorded in Ternopil region – only 5,612 hryvnias. Only in eight regions of the country does the average pension level meet or exceed the national indicator.<\/p>\n
It is important to note that the largest increase in average pensions was recorded in Rivne region (+22%) and Zhytomyr region (+20%).<\/p>\n
In addition, almost every fourth pensioner in Ukraine continues to work – this is about 2.8 million people. For this category, the average pension is higher and is about 7.9 thousand hryvnias per month.<\/p>\n
Today, there are approximately 10.05 million pensioners in Ukraine. In the period from January to March 2026, their number decreased by 116 thousand. Every year, Ukraine loses about 170 thousand pensioners, and over four years of full-scale war this number decreased by 740 thousand.<\/p>\n
Earlier, it was reported that the Pension Fund may impose a debt on pensioners, and part of the pension may need to be given to repay debts.<\/p>\n
