Company directors to be tried for supplying 20,000 low-quality sleeping bags to military

As part of the pre-trial investigation conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation with the participation of the National Police’s internal security, the fact of fraud by the director of an enterprise from Kryvyi Rih was proven, who in 2023 supplied the military unit with 20 thousand sleeping bags of inadequate quality.

According to the examination results, it was determined that the products did not meet the technical specifications. In particular, the fabric had different parameters, and the sleeping bags lacked the necessary fleece lining and a special layer that ensured their impermeability.

The total value of the supplied products was 30 million hryvnias. The director of the enterprise was charged with committing fraud on a vast scale, which carries a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The military unit has already filed a lawsuit with a claim for compensation for damages for 6 million hryvnias, as well as for the replacement of substandard sleeping bags with those of appropriate quality. The court fully supported these requirements.

Additionally, an investigation has been conducted into a serviceman who accepted improper products for registration without verifying their authenticity. He pleaded guilty under Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for negligence in the performance of official duties.
