Lyudmila Kovalevska called for transparency in military fees, emphasizing the importance of directing funds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, not to PR

It is for this reason that the proposal to introduce additional taxes for defense needs does not cause negative reactions in the public. Kyiv City Council deputy from the “European Solidarity” Lyudmila Kovalevska shared her thoughts on this topic on Instagram.

However, according to the representative of the authorities, the population has a completely justified indignation when they see how their hard-earned money, which should go to the purchase of drones or ammunition, “burns” in a whirlpool of populism and dubious expenditures from the state budget.

“The situation is especially indignant when funds from the military levy and other taxes are used by the central government for populist programs, PR campaigns and other expenses that have no relation to the real needs of the army,” Lyudmila Kovalevska emphasized.

She believes that in the conditions of a full-scale war, which has been going on for three years, there can be no delays in financing the Armed Forces. Moreover, the deputy characterized the current situation as “shameful.” In her opinion, the only way to change this situation is to ensure full transparency and control over the expenses of the military tax.

“We need to restore order in the administration of the military tax as soon as possible and make it absolutely transparent. People should understand well where their money goes, and the military should receive everything they need without delay,” she noted.

Lyudmila Kovalevska also emphasized that the new draft laws initiated by the European Solidarity team are aimed precisely at these goals. The main goal is that the military tax should be used exclusively for victory, and not to increase the ratings of officials. Defense spending should be protected, transparent and understandable to every citizen.
