Valeriy Kharchyshyn shared his experiences about his son’s serious illness: He is changing

Frontman of the band “Druha Rika” Valeriy Kharchyshyn revealed details about the serious illness of his 17-year-old son Yevgen. In an interview, he said that his son was diagnosed with a rare neuropsychiatric disorder, which manifests itself through various mental and neurological symptoms.

According to Kharchyshyn, the disease manifests itself aggressively and quickly. Among the symptoms are Tourette’s syndrome, signs of acute psychosis, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorder, and other disorders. The boy also has autoimmune problems, which are likely related to a streptococcal infection that affected his brain.

The musician emphasized that this disease is not treatable and significantly changes his son’s personality. He said that Yevgen can experience insomnia, then sleep during the day, and also show aggression or scream for a long time. Such changes have become a big test for the whole family.

Kharchyshyn noted that he had hoped for his son’s condition to improve after the onset of puberty, but this did not happen. Now, they are most concerned about Yevgeny’s social adaptation because it is difficult for him to find his place among his peers and accept his differences.

The musician shared that the experiences for his son turned out to be more difficult for him than the loss of loved ones. He admitted that seeing the child change was the most challenging test in his life.
