Pension status: increased payments only for the “chosen ones”

In Ukraine, most people receive a pension that does not exceed 30% of their salary. However, there is a specific category of people who are entitled to a 60% increase in pension, as noted by the Pension Fund.

This allowance is available to individuals who have held public positions and possess the required insurance experience. When calculating the pension for civil servants, all types of salaries from which a single social contribution was paid are taken into account. If, at the time of retirement, a person no longer holds a public position, the salary of a working colleague in the same position and rank is used to calculate the pension.

Previously, pensions for civil servants were even higher – up to 90% of earnings, but later this percentage was reduced by 30% due to changes in pension legislation.

To receive an increased pension, civil servants must meet specific requirements: have at least 10 years of experience in the civil service as of May 1, 2016, and be in office on that date, or have 20 years of experience without being tied to a position.

As of the beginning of 2025, the average salary of civil servants was approximately 62 thousand hryvnias, so some representatives of this category can claim maximum pension payments.
