Tax evaders face massive purges: they will no longer be able to avoid responsibility

During the current year, Ukrainian universities have expelled approximately 4,000-5,000 postgraduate students due to the new control system introduced by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as university initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education. Deputy Minister of Education Mykhailo Vinnytskyi announced this information.

He noted that in the period 2022-2023, there was a significant increase in the number of men entering postgraduate studies on a contract basis. In 2023, this figure exceeded 18 thousand. According to Vinnytskyi, many of them chose doctoral studies as a means of obtaining a deferral from mobilization.

With these changes, the conditions for admission to postgraduate studies were revised last year, and a detailed check of the academic results of those who entered in 2022 and 2023 is currently underway. Vinnytskyi emphasized that universities are also introducing stricter requirements for postgraduate students.

The official emphasized that control over the quality of education is not only the responsibility of the ministry administration but also that of the universities themselves. There are cases when universities independently identify postgraduate students who do not actively participate in scientific activities.

For example, the rector of Lutsk National Technical University announced the expulsion of approximately a thousand postgraduate students who had not fulfilled the educational requirements, which occurred without the ministry’s intervention. Vinnytskyi emphasized that such steps are the norm for universities that strive to maintain a high quality of education.

In addition, the official previously stated that applicants are increasingly choosing specialties for which the labor market is already oversaturated and emphasized the importance of considering the economy’s needs when selecting professions.
