Ukrainians found a way to circumvent the ban on vaping: a new dangerous alternative has appeared
E-cigarette manufacturers circumvent bans in Ukraine.
Despite legislative restrictions on flavored e-cigarettes in Ukraine, some manufacturers are finding ways to circumvent them. One such solution is the popularization of “self-mixing,” where users create their vaping liquid.
This information was announced by Taras Klymenko, head of the NGO “European Choice of Ukraine,” at a press conference dedicated to the results of a survey by the Razumkov Center on the attitude of Ukrainians toward anti-smoking initiatives.
The study showed that about 70% of those who use flavored vapes are aware of the existing ban, but only 2.2% of respondents have refused to use them. The majority are looking for alternatives or buying products illegally.
Klymenko emphasized that self-mixing complicates the monitoring of liquid composition, which increases the risk to consumers’ health due to the possible presence of hazardous or prohibited components.
The survey also found that 76% of respondents believe that bans encourage consumers to seek products outside Ukraine or on the black market. At the same time, 78.5% of respondents support educational initiatives instead of strict restrictions – in particular, informing smokers about the benefits of quitting nicotine and helping those who are looking for less harmful alternatives.
Experts call for the development of a comprehensive policy to regulate the circulation of such products, as well as for effective communication with the population about the risks associated with consuming illegal products.
Recall that it was recently announced that prices for tobacco products will increase, which will potentially make smoking financially unaffordable for many people.
