On the balcony — an ‘observation point’: SBU detained an FSB agent

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained two people who were passing information to the enemy about the flights of Ukrainian combat aircraft in the Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions.

According to the agency, a woman was detained in the Kyiv region who, on behalf of Russian special services, was monitoring the aircraft of the Defense Forces. The 34-year-old unemployed woman organized surveillance from the balcony of her apartment, recording the time, directions, and number of takeoffs and landings of aircraft. She also traveled to the places of arrival to send information to the Russian side.

A serviceman was detained in the Mykolaiv region who filmed the flights of Ukrainian aircraft and distributed these videos through messengers, from which the information could be transmitted to representatives of the Russian Federation.

During the searches, mobile phones with evidence of their espionage activities were seized from the detainees. Both were charged under Articles 111 (high treason during martial law) and 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine during wartime) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court chose a preventive measure for the suspects in the form of detention without the possibility of bail. For these crimes, they face a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 5 years to life with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office.
