Mobilized people will not be allowed to go home: the National Guard explained what will happen after the war

The commander of the National Guard, Oleksandr Pivnenko, noted in an interview that even if a peace agreement is signed, the fighting will not stop immediately. Thus, mobilized citizens will not be able to return home immediately.

According to him, it will take at least several months to stabilize the situation on the front. During this time, unexpected skirmishes and spontaneous armed conflicts may occur.

Pivnenko believes that the “cooling off” stage of the conflict may last up to six months, during which all servicemen will remain in their positions.

“A long pause is expected. In the first two or three months, random shots and chaotic movements are possible. Orders will not immediately reach everyone – both ours and the enemy,” he emphasized.

The general also added that even after the end of active hostilities, the number of Ukrainian troops should remain at approximately 600 thousand people. He also expressed the opinion that some of the soldiers would be able to return to the army after demobilization voluntarily, so there would be no problems with staffing the Armed Forces.

Today, Ukraine lacks a clearly defined demobilization procedure. The Ministry of Defense has prepared a bill that provides for the demobilization of service members after three years of service, during which at least 18 months must be spent in combat operations. However, this initiative did not receive support from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
