Ukraine has introduced large fines for gas consumers, which will require spending hundreds of thousands of hryvnias
Interference with the operation of gas equipment can result in severe financial penalties from the gas distribution network operator. This information can be found in the message that has become available in various news resources.
As noted, such fines are imposed for attempts to change the functioning of gas appliances or interfere with the gas pipeline system. The amount of the fine is not fixed and is determined individually based on several factors:
- Duration and nature of the violation;
- Area of the heated area;
- Number of registered residents;
- Date of the last inspection or reading of the gas meter;
- Number of devices specified in the project documentation.
All violations can be conditionally divided into two main categories: the first involves actions that result in the recording of unauthorized gas consumption, and the second involves violations that distort the declared procedure for charging gas.
The gas distribution network operator emphasizes that in both situations, calculations are made based on the maximum permissible consumption volumes. These figures, which significantly exceed the current standards for households without meters, are often referred to as “penalty” standards.
Additionally, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the threat of a gas shortage in the country. He noted that large-scale attacks by Russian troops on gas infrastructure have seriously damaged gas storage facilities and production facilities. The reserves of blue fuel currently only cover 50% of the required volume; as a result, the government is actively seeking alternative sources of gas supply from other countries.
