Prices for cucumbers, peppers and green onions: what has changed in the cost of salads
Ukraine has seen a significant decline in prices for vegetables, including cucumbers and bell peppers. Data from the EastFruit project and the Ministry of Finance portal confirm this information.
In June, new trends indicate a drop in prices for greenhouse cucumbers, which are currently sold for 30 to 55 hryvnias per kilogram. This represents a 21% decrease from last week. The main reason for the decline is the seasonal increase in the supply of vegetables from local producers. At the same time, it is worth noting that current prices for cucumbers are still 37% higher than in the same period last year.
As for bell peppers, supermarkets are noticeably reducing their cost: in early June, the average price decreased from 192.86 to 168.88 hryvnias per kilogram. Some chains are already offering peppers for 139 hryvnias.
The price of green onions has also decreased: the average cost of a 100-gram bunch has reduced from 40.95 to 38.70 hryvnias.
This trend has a positive impact on consumer spending among Ukrainians; however, economic challenges persist in the country.
