Motorists are warned about fines of up to UAH 34,000: an expert refuted the most common myths about traffic rules

In recent days, the Ukrainian information space has been filled with rumors about possible changes to the legislation on traffic rules, which could result in fines for violations increasing to 34,000 hryvnias. Drivers are discussing the potential abolition of the “untouchable” speed limit, as well as a ban on drifting, penalties for loud exhaust, and even the use of winter tires in the summer.

Lawyer Anton Boltik, in his video, urged drivers not to panic and noted that most of the news being spread is either fake or exaggerated. It is essential to exercise caution when sharing information spread through Telegram channels and social media networks.

One of the most discussed statements concerns the possible abolition of the “untouchable” speed limit of +20 km/h. According to the lawyer, there is currently no such bill in effect. Although MP Volodymyr Kreydenko raised this issue in 2023, the conversation did not progress further. So far, no one intends to introduce fines for minimal speeding.

Another topical topic was the introduction of fines for loud exhaust. Draft Law No. 9564 provides for a fine of 17,000 hryvnias for the first violation and 34,000 hryvnias, with deprivation of rights, for repeated offenses. But the status of the document is currently “provided for review,” so no action has been taken on it.

Draft Law No. 9642 also proposes introducing fines for drifting: 8,500 hryvnias for the first violation and 17,000 hryvnias, with deprivation of rights, for repetition. Again, this document is only at the review stage.

Also under discussion is Bill No. 11029, which mandates the use of winter tires from December 1 to March 31 and stipulates a fine of up to 8,500 hryvnias for non-compliance. However, like other initiatives, there has been no movement on its consideration yet.

Anton Boltik emphasizes that drivers should not panic because of headlines without official confirmation. Legislative initiatives appear regularly, but only a small part of them reach real implementation.
