Poroshenko’s lawyers reported forgery of documents: sanctions were approved before submission by the government

During the consideration of the case on the legality of sanctions against the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, a Supreme Court judge sharply criticized representatives of the Office of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers for the lack of proper evidence and hasty attempts to close the session.

The session was broadcast on Facebook by Petro Poroshenko himself.

“Why didn’t you comply with the court’s decision?” the judge asked the state representatives, who were unable to provide the documents that served as the basis for imposing sanctions against Poroshenko. They tried to shift the responsibility to other state bodies, which caused indignation in the court and laughter in the courtroom.

Government representatives also initiated a motion for a closed session, referring to materials marked “for official use.” However, Poroshenko’s lawyers insisted on the openness of the process, emphasizing the case’s importance to society. The court nevertheless decided to hold part of the session in a closed session.

The hall was attended by diplomats from 15 embassies, including those of the US, Germany, and EU representatives, as well as journalists from Ukrainian and international media.

Lawyer Ilya Novikov stated that there were possible falsifications in the documents: the sanctions were dated February 12, while the government’s submission was received on February 13, which indicates retrospective processing of the papers. There are also doubts about the legality of the conclusion developed by the representative of Ukraine at the European Court of Human Rights, which, according to the lawyer, could have been signed retroactively.

According to a survey conducted by KIIS, 56% of Ukrainians consider these sanctions to be politically motivated. Of these, 35% interpret it as an attempt to divert attention from events on the front, and 29% – as a way to put pressure on the opposition before possible negotiations with Russia or elections.

In addition, it was noted that Petro Poroshenko has resumed sales of Roshen products in Russia. Various sweets are available on marketplaces, including Wildberries. Among them, you can find “Mad Bee,” “Shokolapky,” and “Slіvki Lenivki.” Sellers confirm that these are indeed Roshen products.
