God of War fans are sad: the spin-off of the famous saga has been postponed

Fans of the God of War series will have to wait for the release of the new spin-off. Initially, its launch was planned for the end of 2025, but insiders indicate a possible postponement of the date to 2026.

Journalist Jeff Grubb confirmed on the Last of the Nintendogs podcast that we should not expect a presentation of the project anytime soon. This may be due to delays in voice acting resulting from strikes that began in July 2024; however, the developers or SAG-AFTRA have not provided official confirmation of this information at the moment.

Even despite the lack of official news from Sony, rumors surrounding the project are intensifying. With the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise in March 2025, insiders have hinted at a new game that will return players to the atmosphere of Ancient Greece. Initially, fans were hoping for a remake of the original, released in 2005, but it later became clear that the developers were aiming for something more innovative and interesting.

The new game is expected to be presented in the 2.5D Metroidvania format and will tell the story of Deimos, Kratos’ long-lost brother. The events will take place before Kratos became the Ghost of Sparta, opening up new horizons for understanding the mythology of the franchise.
