The court chose a preventive measure in the case of Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshov in the form of a bail of 120 million hryvnias

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has ruled on a preventive measure for Oleksiy Chernyshov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity. He has been set a bail of 120 million hryvnias.

This decision was announced by the investigating judge, who agreed with the requirements of the NABU detectives. The prosecution considers this amount adequate, based on the practice of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court in similar cases.

In addition to bail, the minister has imposed additional restrictions:

the obligation to appear upon invitation to the court, prosecutor, and investigator;

the need to report any changes in place of residence or work;

a ban on leaving the settlement without the permission of the investigation;

the transfer of foreign passports for storage to the relevant state bodies;

avoidance of communication with suspects and witnesses;

wearing an electronic bracelet.

Chernyshov has five days to post the full bail. If he fails to comply with this condition or violates the imposed restrictions, prosecutors may demand a more stringent preventive measure.

Minister’s position

At a court hearing in Kyiv, Chernyshov assured that he does not plan to flee and is ready to cooperate with the investigation. He emphasized that he is performing his duties as Minister of National Unity, which include international travel, but he is prepared to appear before the court and investigators.

“I am determined to cooperate within the framework of a transparent trial fully. I am ready to attend the hearing. Please note that Wednesday is a government day, but I can make an exception,” he said during the hearing.

The situation surrounding Chernyshov escalated last week when he was abroad, sparking rumors of his possible escape. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal explained that the minister was on a foreign business trip until June 22.

On June 23, Chernyshov personally appeared before the NABU, where he was formally charged with committing serious crimes.

According to the investigation, Chernyshov is linked to a scandalous corruption scheme in the construction industry, which pertains to his tenure as Minister of Community and Territorial Development from March 2020 to November 2022.

Investigators claim that the developers devised a scheme to illegally acquire land plots in Kyiv for housing construction, which involved high-ranking officials, including a minister, his advisor, and the management of state-owned enterprises.
