70-year-old pensioner helped draft evaders avoid military service

The State Bureau of Investigation has charged a 70-year-old woman who, according to investigators, organized a scheme for extortion in a military unit in the Rivne region. She had close ties with representatives of the command, which increased her authority in this area.

According to the information, the woman was involved in manipulating lists for business trips to the combat zone. She could add or remove the names of soldiers from the lists for a specific fee, coordinating her actions through her nephew, who served in the same unit.

It was the nephew who looked for those who wanted to stay in the rear, agreed on the amount with them, and then transferred the money to his grandmother. The “exclusion” of one name from the list was estimated at 5 thousand US dollars.

According to preliminary information, the woman allegedly influenced the decision-making of officials to obtain an undue benefit. Her actions are classified as an influence for selfish purposes.

As a reminder, earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation, with the support of the Security Service of Ukraine, completed a pre-trial investigation into an inspector of one of the law enforcement units in Transcarpathia. He is accused of helping evaders travel abroad during the martial law period.
