Prosecutors receive 100,000-kn pensions, while other pensioners live on 36,000 and suffer from hunger

Former prosecutors receive substantial pensions, while millions of Ukrainian pensioners are forced to survive on 3,000-4,000 hryvnias per month.

This was stated by Danylo Getmantsev, the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, during the broadcast.

The issue of pension inequality in Ukraine remains a pressing concern. While the state cannot allocate funds to increase minimum pensions, former prosecutors continue to provide themselves with a comfortable life in old age.

According to Getmantsev, he is well aware of the story of one former prosecutor who considered his pension of 36 thousand hryvnias insufficient and, through the court, achieved its increase to 120 thousand hryvnias.

“Recently, one of the former prosecutors received a decision from the Kharkiv District Court to assign him a pension of 120 thousand hryvnias, although previously he received only 36 thousand. This was not enough for him,” he noted.

The Chairman of the Committee emphasized that such cases cause indignation, especially during the war, when for most pensioners, 10 thousand hryvnia is a dream.

“This is an unacceptable situation in wartime. I believe that he could survive on 30 thousand hryvnia at least until the end of the war; it is a matter of conscience,” the official added.

Danylo Getmantsev also reported that this year, 35 billion hryvnias were allocated from the budget for special pensions.

Earlier, it was reported that military personnel can receive pensions exceeding 23,000 hryvnias. Additionally, Ukrainians will receive additional seniority for their pensions; for this, they must submit certain documents to the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Additionally, pensioners have the opportunity to increase their payments by 54% for fulfilling specific requirements.
