Payments for people with disabilities: who is at risk of losing state assistance
In Ukraine, pension and social assistance payments to persons with disabilities depend on the disability group and the insurance experience. It is essential to note that, in some instances, these payments may be suspended, as reported by representatives of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
The amount of social benefits is determined based on the subsistence minimum, which in 2025 will be 2361 hryvnia. Payments for persons with disabilities are as follows:
- For the first group of disability since childhood – 2361 hryvnia (100%);
- For the second group – 1888 hryvnia (80%);
- For the third group – 1416 hryvnia (60%);
- For minor children with disabilities – 1652 hryvnia (70%).
Social assistance is not guaranteed for life. If the disability is not permanent, the person must undergo a repeated medical and social examination. Payments may be suspended if the health condition improves or the relevant documents are not updated.
Additionally, state social assistance may be contingent upon the financial status of the individual receiving this assistance.
Earlier, the portal reported on the possibility of appealing the refusal to assign social assistance, as well as the potential for Ukrainians to face a reduction in social benefits in favor of military spending. New formulas for calculating social assistance for low-income families were also considered.
