Payments from 200 to 800 thousand hryvnias: who besides military personnel can claim compensation

During the full-scale Russian aggression, thousands of Ukrainians, both military personnel and civilians, received serious injuries. People who became disabled due to these injuries are entitled to a one-time cash benefit from the state, as stipulated in the relevant legislation of Ukraine.

Assistance is provided not only to military personnel but also to employees of state bodies and critical infrastructure.

Payments are regulated by the Law “On One-Time Cash Benefit for Damage to Life and Health Caused to Employees of Critical Infrastructure Facilities, Civil Servants and Local Government Officials in Wartime.” Persons with disabilities have the opportunity to apply for this benefit within three years after being recognized as disabled. The amount of the payment depends on the disability group and ranges from 200 to 800 thousand hryvnias:

Group I – 800,000 hryvnias;

Group II – 500,000 hryvnias;

Group III – 200,000 hryvnias.
To apply for a payment, please get in touch with the Pension Fund of Ukraine at any branch or through its online portal. The application can be submitted in person or through a legal representative. When applying, you must provide copies of the following documents:

passport and identification code;
report of the investigation of the causes of the injury;
medical certificate confirming the examination;
court decision on recognition of incapacity (if any);
death certificate and examination specifying the cause of death (in case of death);
documents confirming family ties;
certificate of education for persons under 23 years of age;
Court decision on payment of assistance to the widow or a notarized agreement certifying the maintenance of persons killed as a result of aggression.
