Minimum wage increase: Ukrainians were informed of the new figure

From January 1, 2026, a gradual increase in the minimum wage will commence in Ukraine, reaching a five-digit amount by 2028. This was announced by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak on his Telegram channel.

Initially, the Cabinet of Ministers did not plan to modernize the minimum wage by the end of 2027, but the authorities decided to change their decision. A positive aspect of the new strategy is the gradual increase in the minimum wage. Every January 1, Ukrainians will receive new values:

In 2026 – 8688 UAH (now – 8000 UAH);

In 2027 – 9374 UAH;

In 2028 – 10059 UAH.

At the same time, with the increase in the minimum wage, the subsistence minimum (SM) will also grow, although not so quickly – by about 200 UAH each year. Currently, the total PM indicator is 2,920 UAH, and by 2028, it is expected to increase to 3,536 UAH.

The difference between social groups will remain the same:

pensioners and people with disabilities – 2859 UAH by 2028;

citizens of working age – 3667 UAH;

Children aged 6-18 – the highest indicator – 3871 UAH.

Thus, over the next three years, Ukrainians can expect a gradual but noticeable improvement in key social standards unless the government’s plans undergo significant changes.
