Comedian and volunteer seeks to strip Ukrainians of citizenship: “Why should she keep a passport?
Ukrainian volunteer Serhiy Prytula has proposed the creation of a “non-citizen” status for those who support the “fifth column,” traitors, and corrupt individuals. He made this proposal on his Facebook page.
The showman believes that it is incomprehensible that patriotic soldiers who defend the country have the same rights as those who spread Russian propaganda or cooperate with the occupiers. “Citizenship is more than just a passport. It is an agreement: you support your country, and it supports you!” – said Prytula, emphasizing the need to open a discussion on the issue of the “non-citizen” status.
According to him, this status can be met by individuals who have been found guilty of treason, collaboration, or corruption. He pointed to the examples of Latvia and Estonia, where there are “gray passports.”
“Why keep a passport for those who have betrayed the state or committed theft from it? Should a person who has already served time for treason continue to be a citizen of the country they betrayed? You cannot build a just state when the voice of a traitor has the same weight as the voice of a person who risks his life for his country,” the volunteer emphasized.
The status of a “non-citizen” means that a person continues to reside in the country but does not possess citizenship and the rights associated with it; in particular, they do not have the right to vote or hold public office.
