Zelenskyy commends 11-year-old boy from Denmark for supporting Ukrainian children

During his visit to Denmark, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded 11-year-old volunteer Jens Fogh Thomsen with the “Future of Ukraine” medal. This award was presented to the boy for his charitable activities in support of Ukrainian children.

Jens collected more than 34 thousand Danish kroner, which he spent on purchasing school backpacks and stationery for children who suffered as a result of Russian aggression.

“I sincerely thank you on behalf of all Ukrainians, especially children. They are currently going through difficult times and trying to survive under Russian attacks. You are a true friend of Ukraine, and we greatly appreciate your help.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Ukraine together with your parents,” Zelenskyy noted during the award ceremony.

Jens began his activities after seeing children in Ukraine lose their homes due to the war. He began creating Easter decorations in the form of beaded chickens in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, which he then sold. The funds raised were donated to support the affected children.

President Zelensky introduced this award on May 29, 2025, and on May 30, he honored 24 Ukrainian children. Jens became the first foreigner to be awarded this distinction, which was presented during the president’s visit to Denmark.
